In May of 2008 I graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Textile Design from the design studies department. I love the study of color, pattern and texture. The style I developed ranges from the romantic (think farmers markets, antique linens and little girls in wool pea coats with lace peeking out from under) to the urban or post apocalyptic (think mad max meets bicycle messenger.) I am strongly influenced by the simplicity of Swedish design, the farmlands and markets of the midwest and all my favorite post apocalyptic films or books (Terminator 1 &2, The Road, Children of Men.) Living in the midwest is my greatest source of inspiration.
Working conceptually appeals to me, but I am driven by working in collaboration with clients to create useful designs. My philosophy of sustainability is not only political and policy, but I find my greatest contribution designing to make sustainable life choices. I want to focus on making biking to work easier, cooking healthy food and buying less. Being good stewards of our little communities and plots of earth.
I am lucky to live in a community where my peers encourage these lifestyles and help me come up with great ideas by asking for things that inspire me to design. Most of my collections have been the result of a request from a family member or friend. I am currently working on collecting all of this into a catalog to be posted here soon.

This is great Sarah. I’ve been looking through your shots and they look great. Very impressive.
